No, my digital artwork is drawn freehand in the Procreate app on my iPad, with my Apple Pencil. You can think of Procreate’s canvas as a digital blank piece of paper, and the Apple Pencil as a digital pencil. In the app I select from a dropdown menu of a variety of brush effect types, but after my selections I use my own drawing skills to create my pieces. I begin with a rough sketch, then perfect the lining, then I color in my pieces with the movements of my own hand with the “digital pencil” on “digital paper”. For some of my symmetrical pieces, I have drawn those with the assistance of Procreate’s “symmetry tool”, which mirrors what I’m drawing on one side to the opposite side. I do this at times if I want more of an aligned finish. Other than that everything is truly freehanded.
